Becoming known as a tracker organ builder in Southern California proved difficult for me. After completing Opus 2, I responded to a slow time by designing and building opus 3, a modern looking positive which could be taken apart in two sections for moving. I wanted something a bit more substantial than the "box" organs that a number of builders had been offering for continuo use. The organ stands about five feet high, and contains a 4' Principal. This photo, taken by a professional photographer for publicity purposes, shows the organ at Trinity Episcopal Church where it was used for over a year during the construction of my Opus 4. |

Opus 3 was used by a number of prestigious groups and players such as the Roger Wagner Chorale, the Oregon Bach Festival under Helmuth Rilling and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Here it is shown at the Hollywood Bowl during a performance in June 1987 of "The Four Seasons" by Vivaldi. Sydney Weiss was the violin soloist and Christopher Hogwood was conducting from the organ. |
